Yu no ken wari! (Don't worry!)

So, I was chatting with a great friend weeks ago, and she encouraged me big time!  We've been feeling like we're being such bad communicators.  Do you see the date on my last post???  Almost exactly 4 MONTHS AGO!  Really, we've been doing stuff here, and trying to do well at it.  My friend assured me that everyone back home wasn't gonna get all over me for not posting...so, thanks everyone!
"Mi no ken wari!"
We love you all, and want you to know that we thank the Lord most every night before bed for each person on our team back in the States (and several now beyond the States :) ).  You are NOT forgotten, and we hope you haven't forgotten us either.

I have tried to give little glimpses with an easy 1 minute post on Facebook here and there.  So by all means, please keep checking there from time to time.  But for now...

In an effort to appease, please, and mostly - give you "thousands of words", I decided it's high time I post some pics (each being worth 1 thousand words, right?).  Many pics.  These range from the yellow bathtub water that many were curious about, to time with new PNG friends, to mulberries picked within minutes of throwing them in our pancakes for dinner.  Also some pics from our time in the tribe (which will get it's own blog post at some point, hopefully).  So, enjoy...

our beloved yellow bath...no, the girls didn't pee.  it's just how clean our water isn't.

Toys-R-Us would be out of business here.  Too much creativity and contentment in these parts.
I love these girls!  The sweet moments especially.  I picture these "sweet as pie" faces when the not so sweet moments have me climbing walls.

A ladies' Christian conference that I attended soon after we arrived in PNG.  LOVED hearing the singing, and amazed at how far many of these ladies traveled on foot to get there!  They wouldn't miss it!
Me and my friend Sandra cookin' it up PNG style.
"Storying" with the ladies while we wait for an election candidate to arrive.  I'm still getting used to seeing the older ladies (mamas) with partial beards.  Just one of those "differences".
my man hooked me up with home-made sweet and sour chicken & fried rice for my 25th birthday...k, maybe a few years older.  wink wink.  the kiss was insisted upon by our photographer, Sarah.  such a romantic!
the full b-day spread for my first b-day in PNG.  YUM.

Sarah's classmate Brianna, a PNG citizen, and a great 3 legged race partner for field day!
during "field day" at Sarah's school, the NTM helicopter had to make an emergency landing with a tribal missionary who had a severe case of malaria
2 little princesses out amongst the mulberry trees by our house.  Picking berries for our morning pancakes.

This was our "fireworks" for 4th of July:  bonfire in a smokey hut singing every America song we could think of.  We enjoyed stars & stripes cookies decked out in red, white, & blue.  We were in the Simbari tribe at the time.
